Before I first started my health journey, I looked to others to define me. I really didn't know who I was or what I stood for.
In high school, it was so easy. I lived at home, had someone to cook for me, provide a roof over my head, give me money, follow a routine and not have too much to worry about.
After that---when I was on my own going to college, I kind of lost track of who I was. I had all this new found freedom but didn't feel like I had direction. So I partied, gained weight, studied and just did what I thought I was supposed to do---get a college education.
Well, I graduated with a BS in Communication (how fitting, right?) But what was I supposed to do with that? Still no direction---so I relied on others to guide me.
I got married. That gave me a sense of responsibility, a sense of belonging to SOMETHING, but I really couldn't figure out who I was INDIVIDUALLY! What did I want??
After I gained weight, I realized one thing at least....I realized I wasn't happy!
I didn't like how I felt or looked. THAT'S when my discovery of WHO I was began.
I was a woman on a mission. A woman who wanted to find happiness WITHIN. Although it started with weight loss, so much more came with it! I began to find my likes, my dislikes, my WHY for living. I started owning my power because it came from within--not from others.
It's like I literally had to become SOOOOO unhappy, that I was willing to CHANGE who I was to find my happiness.
So I ask....are you owning YOUR power?
