Cancer season begins...

Welcome summer solstice June 20th
Welcome summer solstice June 20th

This year, the summer solstice falls on June 20th and marks the longest day of the year. I love sitting outside basking in the warmth of the day late into the evening when I stays light out for so long.

I love working in the yard, gardening, hiking, playing pickleball and just enjoying summers in Helena, MT. There's nothing like them! I feel pretty fortunate to live here and never want to take it for granted. Not for 1 minute. So, I try to give thanks daily--for all things little and big, like hearing the birds sing, watching the sunset, the scent of a rose, my health, happiness...the list goes on.

Also, June 20th marks the beginning of Cancer season. Kate Belew from word witch writes: This sign is known for its emotional depths, divine ties to the moon and lunar correspondences, and archetypal vision for care and nourishment for the collective. Cancerian energy is often referred to as “the mother” of the zodiac. Astrologer and author Linda Goodman writes about Cancer: “Extremely maternal towards friends and family, Cancerians are caring and protective of all those around them.”

Cancer is the crab, the shelled crustacean that moves between land and ocean, traversing the liminal place in between, intuitively understanding the tides, and stepping lightly betwixt and between, cycling in between the depths of the sea and the shifting sands.

This season brings along with it the invitation to become one with the natural world, to ensure we don't forget we are part of it. Play and dance under the moon, celebrating your wild side. Embrace your nurturing and loving side not only with others but with yourself.

Three cheers to SUMMER!
